A very common issue with the Mid-2010 15″ and 17″ MacBook Pros with the nVidia GeForce GT 330M dedicated video card. What happens to these systems is a capacitor on the graphics power rail fails. When this happens, it will cause the machine to kernel panic when switching to or running off the dedicated video card, and in some cases can simply cause no image to appear on the LCD at all. We replace this faulty, undersized capacitor with one of the same specifications that is much larger and not Tantalum, but with a polypropylene capacitor, preventing this issue from ever happening again in the future.
