Beast of a 17″ Alienware laptop that wasn’t turning on. Nothing, no signs of life. On removing the motherboard, the main 19 Volt power rail was shorted. On injecting a low amount of voltage – 1 volt into the rail, it was sucking up a huge 5 amps. Using thermal imaging, a blown capacitor lit up like a Christmas tree.
