A less than 1 year old Macbook Pro A1990 dead, no charge light, no anything. Upon opening this up and removal of the logic board, it’s been totalled by water, although the owner said absolutley no way has there been a spill! This was the worst area of a few for this Mac, this is the USB and SSD area, If this isn’t working, there’s no charge, no SSD being seen , oh and no power!
This customer had no backup of their data which was vital. Apple had quoted an obscene amount of money to replace the insides ( never fix) and would 100% loose his data, as that’s what they do. So we fixed this, at a fraction of the cost of Apple by cleaning up the bad areas, and using specialist software we are able to determine the vaues of bad chips, caps, resistors etc, and we can then locate replacements for what’s needed from donor logic boards ( dead ones fro harvesting from ). With all the bad stuff gone and replaced, restored with all of the clients data as it should be.
