This 2011 15 inch i7 8GB Macbook pro came in with the booting to a white/grey screen and nothing else. There are idiots out there that will bodge this repair by simply reflowing the graphics chip. Reflowing means heating up the many solder balls on the underside of the chip so that the reflow back into full contact with the chip and board. This isn’t a fix, may last a month, but that’s it.
Here at Mycomputerworks we go for a forever fix. These macs also have an integrated graphics card, so by removing a resistor we turn the already non functional GPU ( graphics chip ) off, forever. We then solder into place a pcb over a certain rom chip to re route signals direct to the integrated graphics ( which never fails on these!) by running jumper wires from our newly added PCB to where they need to go.
The green shiny stuff is conformal coating add on after to ensure nothing shorts… And boom! a fully fuctional Mac at the fraction of the cost of Apple, or having to buy another. Not local ? Don’t delay, get in touch and send yours in today !
